“I grew up playing baseball and a lot of ‘backyard’ football, so sports have always been a part of my life. There were several periods in my youth where I would train hard for a few months, and then slack off for a few months; never really finding consistency. What I realized was that there is no ‘quick fix’ or ’30 day’ plan that would get the job done. I finally understood that in order to attain the fitness level that I want to achieve, it had to become a lifestyle. For me personally, OCR is a large part of that lifestyle: It provides short and long-term goals for me to pursue. Jen and I really got into training seriously about 10 years ago and haven’t looked back. We love what fitness has done for us and want to share our knowledge and help others feel better about themselves while achieving their goals.

We sincerely believe that every person has an internal motivation that will carry them so far, but being part of a team or family such as ours will help them find their way to build the best version of themselves!

“About 10 years ago, Kevin and I started to hit the gym. I had never stepped foot in one, had no clue what to expect and man, I’m so thankful we did. Working out and working on myself has given me an inner strength while also working on my health. I studied hard and earned my NASM Nutrition Coaching certification. I’m excited to continue my journey while being able to help others with theirs.”

Emily Ryerson

Certified Zumba Instructor

Designs and leads Sweat & Sway fitness dance classes, as well as co-leading Grip Stix class.

“I graduated from Geneseo High School, and am attending Western Illinois University-QC as well as Black Hawk College. My major is Elementary Education. In high school, I participated in choir, madrigal, track, and cheerleading. I like Zumba because when I started college, it was hard for me to be motivated to work out. The good thing about Zumba is the main focus is on having fun, and the workout is a by-product of dancing and having fun.”

“Health and wellness have always been a passion of mine and a big part of my life. After becoming a mom, it became even more apparent how important it is to make good decisions regarding nutrition and exercise. I understand that life gets busy sometimes but health and movement should be prioritized. My goal as a personal trainer is to inspire different ways to move the body and help people establish a sustainable healthy lifestyle.”

Yoga at Get A Grip Training Center in Colona, IL

Mirasia Gomez

Certified Yoga Instructor, CYT-200

"Mirasia invites you to join her on a journey of self-discovery and better health through yoga. She started practicing yoga nine years ago and has experienced both mental and physical benefits. Over the past few years, she has worked to better understand her body and mind, learning from self-help books and YouTube videos. To deepen her practice, she went to Peru to learn with the School Yoga Institute. There she learned a hatha and a vinyasa flow and how to align her postures as well as make adjustments to others. She also learned that yoga is more than just physical practice, but a way to train and focus the mind. Mirasia received her 200-hour yoga teacher certificate in February 2024 and is eager to help others experience the benefits of yoga.

Aside from yoga, Mirasia enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, hula-hooping, or roller skating. She is also a creative person and enjoys painting, making wire jewelry, and crocheting. Currently, she is working on overcoming a block in her painting and has been focusing on crochet instead. She also travels with a friend selling their wares at events and festivals.

As a new yoga teacher, Mirasia is looking to gain experience helping others with their yoga practice. She emphasizes that yoga is a personal practice and a space for self-acceptance, with no comparison or competition. Modifications can be made to allow anyone to receive the benefits of each pose. The most important part of any practice is to be present within oneself”
